In 1996-1998, in cooperation with «Stalproekt» institute and «SAMSUNG Heavy Industries», project of building of compact pilot plant, based on Vanyukov furnace was realized. The main purpose of the project was demonstration of possibilities of the Vanyukov process (processing of materials in liquid bath of melt) for processing of different waste materials.
 
The pilot setup was built up in 1997 in Daejeon (Republic of Korea). A total of three experimental campaigns were done, and different kinds of wastes were subjected to utilization: old tires, wastes of steel canes, glass, foundry wastes, coal power stations ash, municipal waste.
 
During the experimental campaigns, (with duration – a few days each) the main technological operations were successfully tested: furnace heating, formation of initial liquid bath from solid material, wastes processing and furnace stopping with full pouring of melt. Obtained information allowed to confirm the applicability and high efficiency of the Vanyukov process for processing of different waste materials and to improve some elements of furnace design.
